Josh Kerr breaks world record in the mile run
British athlete Josh Kerr set a new world record in the mile, covering the 1.6 km distance in 3:42.66, beating Hicham El Guerrouj's 1999 record by 0.47 seconds.

British runner Josh Kerr has broken the world record in the mile run. He completed the distance of approximately 1.6 kilometers in three minutes and 42.66 seconds, improving the previous record set by Morocco's Hicham El Guerrouj in Rome in 1999 by 0.47 seconds.
In the race, American Jared Nuguse finished second, 3.02 seconds behind, while another Briton, Jake Heyward, placed third, a further 1.04 seconds adrift.
Kerr is an experienced 1500-meter runner, having won bronze at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and silver at the 2024 Paris Games.
