E-address service outage extended into Monday due to technical works
Latvia's State Digital Development Agency says the e-address system remains offline as scheduled technical upgrades are taking longer than planned. The system was due back online by August 16, but data migration is still in progress.

Latvia's State Digital Development Agency (VDAA) announced on Monday morning that the national e-address messaging system remains unavailable, even though the originally planned maintenance was supposed to conclude by the end of August 16. The system has been offline since the evening of August 14.
Reason for the delay
According to the agency, migrating data to the new system environment in production is proceeding more slowly than earlier tests had indicated. The main cause is the sheer volume of accumulated recipients and sent messages stored in the e-address system, which significantly increases the amount of data that needs to be migrated. Given the actual workload observed in the production environment, additional time is needed to complete the work.
Purpose of the upgrade
The technical works aim to strengthen the cybersecurity of the e-address system and bring it in line with current security requirements. As part of this, the solution is being migrated to a cloud service managed by the state company Latvijas Valsts radio un televīzijas centrs.
Impact on users
During the works, e-address functionality is suspended both on the "Latvija.gov.lv" portal and in document management and accounting integration systems used by institutions and businesses, including the "parvaldiba.lv" portal. As a result, state and municipal institutions, residents and companies currently cannot send or receive e-address messages, including e-invoices. Services on "Latvija.gov.lv" that require submitting e-form applications are also unavailable.
Once the technical works are finished, full functionality will be restored. Users will regain access to all messages and e-invoices sent and received before the works began, as well as new incoming messages. Meanwhile, the "Latvija.gov.lv" portal, its e-services and the single sign-on authentication module continue to function normally throughout the maintenance period.
