Ederson extends contract after Man Utd move collapses
Brazil midfielder Ederson has signed a new contract with Atalanta after his proposed transfer to Manchester United fell through due to medical concerns. United had agreed a £35m fee but pulled out after further tests raised issues.

Brazil international Ederson has extended his contract with Serie A side Atalanta following the collapse of his move to Manchester United. The Old Trafford club had agreed a £35 million fee for the 27-year-old on 2 June. Plans for a medical at the start of July had to be scrapped when Ederson received a late call-up to Brazil's World Cup squad after Wesley suffered an injury. Ederson eventually underwent a full medical after initial tests in the United States flagged an area of concern. He flew to England for the required tests, which took place after Brazil's World Cup last-16 defeat to Norway. Specialists were involved, and the outcome led to United backing out of the transfer. While sources had told BBC Sport the deal could be resurrected later in the summer on different terms, the player has now extended his contract with Atalanta. The Serie A side did not announce the length of his new deal. Manchester United have recently signed midfielders Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa and Andrey Santos from Chelsea, as well as goalkeeper Karl Darlow from Leeds United.
