Conductor Edgars Račevskis' extensive archive donated to Literature and Music Museum
The personal archive of Song Festival chief conductor Edgars Račevskis, containing over 3,000 documents, photographs, diaries and letters, has been donated to the Latvian National Museum of Literature and Music.

The personal archive of renowned conductor, pedagogue and composer Edgars Račevskis (1936–2022) has arrived at the Latvian National Museum of Literature and Music. The collection was donated by the maestro's daughter, Ilze Ozoliņa. It comprises more than 3,000 items – documents, photographs, diaries, letters and other testimonies of his life.
Račevskis served as chief conductor of the Song Festival and made a significant contribution to Latvian musical culture. Museum researcher and former Latvian Radio Choir singer Ieva Ezeriete described the acquisition in an interview with Latvian Radio 3 "Klasika" as a true museum dream. She noted that the archive allows Račevskis to be rediscovered – he would have turned 90 on July 11.
This archive offers a unique opportunity for researchers and the public to explore Račevskis' life and work from within, revealing both his professional journey and personal reflections.
