An initiative by residents of Ēdole, backed by municipal support, has led to the renovation of the village center bus stop, replacing worn concrete flower boxes with a wooden trellis for climbing plants and repainting the stop's walls.

In the village of Ēdole, local residents proposed and carried out improvements to the bus stop in the village center themselves. The initiative began after residents noticed that the concrete flower boxes by the stop had become worn and outdated.

Irita Riķīte, head of the Ēdole parish administration, responded to the residents' proposal by organizing the removal of the old boxes. To carry the project further, the residents' council and local activists entered the municipality's "Darīsim paši" (Let's Do It Ourselves) community initiative competition.

A new design and stop renovation

The old concrete boxes were replaced with a wooden trellis structure intended for climbing plants. Climbing roses have already been planted at the trellis and are expected to bloom and decorate the area next year.

During the work, it became clear that the walls of the bus stop itself also needed cosmetic repairs. Thanks to careful budget planning, enough funds were saved to buy paint, and the stop was repainted, giving it a fresher look.

The Kuldīga municipality expressed satisfaction with the residents' initiative and their ability to make use of municipal co-financing opportunities, thanking everyone involved in the work.
