Egypt is hosting a prestigious international show jumping competition for the first time. Show jumping is an equestrian sport in which a rider and horse clear a course of obstacles. The event is taking place against the backdrop of the ancient pyramids of Giza, according to the Estonian public broadcaster's news programme "Aktuaalne kamera".
Participants and prize money
Fifty athletes and 100 horses have entered the competition. The total prize fund is 1.75 million euros.
An unusual venue
The world's top riders and their horses are clearing obstacles in a location unusual for the discipline. The arena has a history stretching back thousands of years, which gives the event a striking scale.
The source does not say when the competition is being held, what it is officially called or which riders are taking part.
