European Council President António Costa will travel to Kyiv on 24 August to take part in a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, according to his schedule for the coming days published by the European Council press service. The information was reported by European Pravda, citing the press service.
It had previously been announced that leaders of the Coalition of the Willing would gather on Ukraine's Independence Day, 24 August, though the exact location of the meeting had not been disclosed until now.
Who is leading the meeting
The gathering will be co-chaired by UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. NATO will take part remotely, represented via video link by Deputy Secretary General Radmila Shekerinska.
The Coalition of the Willing is a group of countries committed to supporting Ukraine in its defence against Russia's invasion. The decision to hold this meeting in Ukraine itself was made on 13 July during a coalition gathering in Paris.
