The European Speedcubing Championship is taking place in Arnhem, Netherlands, from July 16 to 19, 2026. The event has attracted over 1,000 competitors representing 53 countries. Held at Sportcentrum Valkenhuizen, the championship follows World Cube Association regulations and features a diverse range of disciplines. These include traditional speed solves, one-handed solves, and blindfolded challenges, as well as novelty events like solving Rubik's Cubes while wearing oven mitts.
Behind the scenes, volunteers prepare each round by scrambling cubes and placing them in individual boxes. Specialized stalls sell lubricants to ensure smooth turning of the puzzles. Competitor and World Cube Association communications team member Kyle Renatus notes that the close-knit international community remains one of the sport's biggest attractions.
