Economists Warn of New Wave of Inflation Globally
A latest Reuters survey of nearly 500 economists indicates that most expect inflation to persist longer than hoped, with geopolitical tensions, especially in the Middle East, posing major risks to prices.

Although inflation has begun to ease in many parts of the world in recent months, experts caution against premature optimism. According to a new Reuters survey of nearly 500 economists, the majority predict that inflation will rise both this year and next.
At the same time, economists have lowered economic growth forecasts for several countries. A key risk factor is geopolitical tension, particularly in the Middle East, which affects oil prices, sparking volatility and fueling concerns about a fresh spike in inflation. This could drive up not only fuel and energy costs but also food, transportation, and other everyday goods.
Central banks remain cautious, and if inflation stays elevated for longer, interest rates may remain higher than initially anticipated.
