Latvian economist Edgars Voļskis has expressed a wish for the next Saeima to set up a special fund dedicated to managing Latvian residents' second-pillar pension savings.
He believes such a step would be an important development for the country's pension system.
A goal for population numbers
Voļskis also says the next parliament should work to ensure that, four years from now, Latvia's population is at least as large as it is today and does not continue to decline.
The economist names these two goals as priorities he believes should receive attention during the next Saeima's term.
