Experts Urge Timely Preparation of Heating Systems and Chimneys
Although heating season is still about two months away, fire safety experts and a certified chimney sweep remind that heating systems and chimneys should be serviced twice a year to prevent fires.

With about two months remaining until the start of the heating season, responsible authorities are urging residents to prepare their heating systems and chimneys in advance – a key step for their own safety.
In the Latvian Radio program "How to Live Better," certified chimney sweep Maris Bambis and Iveta Uka, head of the Fire Safety Regulations Department at the State Fire and Rescue Service, reminded that heating systems and chimneys must be maintained twice a year.
Fire safety statistics are not encouraging – neglected heating systems are among the most common causes of house fires. Experts emphasize that regular cleaning and inspection significantly reduce the risk. Bambis stresses that the work should be carried out by a qualified professional to ensure the chimney is clean and undamaged.
