Experts: "Just eat less" is not a simple solution to overweight
Society still believes obesity can be prevented solely by lifestyle changes, but scientists warn the reality is far more complex.

A common public perception holds that being overweight is simply a matter of willpower and that eating less is the obvious answer. However, experts argue that such a view contradicts scientific evidence.
A study conducted in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and the United States found that eight out of ten people believe obesity can be completely prevented by changing one's lifestyle. Yet specialists disagree, calling this belief just the tip of the iceberg.
Scientists emphasize that the causes of excess weight are far more complex, including genetic, hormonal, psychological, and socioeconomic factors. Therefore, the simple advice "eat less" is not an adequate solution for long-term weight management.
