Experts: Five Possible Scenarios for Russian Attack on NATO

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin may attempt to test NATO's readiness to defend its member states by employing one of five scenarios, according to Atlantic Council military expert Richard Hooker. These scenarios range from conventional military threats to hybrid warfare.

Among the scenarios listed by Hooker is the creation of a land corridor to Kaliningrad, Russia's exclave situated between Lithuania and Poland. Another scenario involves a hybrid operation in Estonia aimed at destabilizing the region. Additionally, the expert mentioned the possibility of seizing the Svalbard archipelago, which is under Norwegian sovereignty but holds strategic importance.

While the remaining two scenarios have not been disclosed, Hooker emphasizes that such actions could serve as Putin's tool to test NATO's unity and response capabilities. The analysis is based on the current geopolitical landscape and Russia's past behavior, including its aggression in Ukraine. Hooker warns that NATO member states must be prepared for any of these potential challenges.
