Zemgale Flavours and Crafts Festival held in Eleja
On September 26, Eleja Manor Park in Jelgava municipality hosted the Zemgale Flavours and Crafts Festival, bringing together craftspeople, local producers and cultural groups. Visitors could explore traditional regional crafts and take part in various creative activities.
On September 26, the Zemgale Flavours and Crafts Festival took place in Eleja Manor Park, gathering craftspeople, local producers and cultural groups from the region. The event was reported by the Jelgava municipality.
Visitors had the opportunity to learn about traditional crafts characteristic of the Zemgale region, browse and purchase items made by local producers and artisans, and take part in creative workshops and other interactive activities.
Cultural program
Several groups performed during the festival, including folklore ensembles "Tarkšķi" and "Vilkijos" from Lithuania, line dance groups "Relaxdance" and "Sidestep", and the middle-generation dance collective "Medaga". A concert-lecture titled "Zemgale – the Lap of Music" with communal singing was also held. The musical program concluded with a concert by the ethnic music group "Tautumeitas".
Workshops
Attendees could also join several masterclasses, including sessions on beekeeping and making natural cosmetics, offering a hands-on look at these craft traditions.
The festival was organized as part of the project "From the Craftsman's Hands to the Market: A Craft and Trade Adventure".
