Estonia's electricity exchange price more than doubles over the week
Between August 17 and 23, the average electricity exchange price in Estonia's Nord Pool price area rose to 9.31 cents per kilowatt-hour, while Latvia and Lithuania saw an even higher average of 12.38 cents.

Over the past week, from August 17 to 23, the average wholesale electricity price in Estonia's Nord Pool price zone more than doubled compared to the previous week.
According to Nord Pool exchange data, the average weekly rate in Estonia reached 9.31 cents per kilowatt-hour, up from 4.38 cents the week before.
Prices in neighboring countries
In Latvia and Lithuania, which form a joint price zone on the exchange, the average electricity price last week was higher than in Estonia, reaching 12.38 cents per kilowatt-hour. In Finland, the average price was lower, at 7.13 cents per kilowatt-hour.
It should be noted that these exchange prices reflect wholesale rates. Final consumer bills also include turnover tax as well as various fees and excise duties, which add to the overall cost of electricity.
