Latvian influencer Elīna Didrihsone has spoken openly about a personal chapter of her life in the “Un tā tas sākās” interview series produced by 1188.lv, describing the period after the birth of her son, Jason, when she did not feel the emotional connection to him that she had anticipated.

A bond that didn't arrive right away

Didrihsone said that for a year and a half she lacked the typical maternal feeling — a deep inner attachment and especially warm closeness with her son. She stressed that her relationship with Jason was never cold, but it also never carried the intensity she had hoped for or imagined before becoming a mother.

A turning point during a trip

A particularly emotional moment came during a trip the influencer had long looked forward to, but which she ended up taking without her son. She said she was caught off guard by how strongly she reacted, breaking into tears unexpectedly. According to Didrihsone, it was in that moment that she first felt, in a pronounced way, the maternal feelings she had been waiting for.

Why she chose to share it

Didrihsone explained that when she once cried publicly about this, it was not a bid for attention but a genuine reflection of that unexpected moment. She noted that she deliberately chooses to talk about difficult periods in her life, not just the pleasant ones, viewing such experiences as a natural part of real life.
