Elita Drāke Reveals: I Was the 5th Most Popular Person in Latvia in 2000
Writer and esotericist Elita Drāke says in an interview that in 2000 she was the fifth most popular person in Latvia, recalling her path to fame starting with entering the Miss Elegance contest in 1999.
Elita Drāke, a writer, esotericist, and socialite, revealed in the interview series “And So It Began” that in 2000 she was the fifth most popular person in Latvia. Now known in the field of self-knowledge and spiritual growth, her fame did not come overnight.
Drāke says she only realized her celebrity status when others called her that. Her path to public attention began with entering the Miss Elegance contest in 1999. It was a deliberate step to be noticed – having just returned from India, she wanted to share her experiences in spirituality and spiritual practices. She applied for a contest that had not yet been announced and made it to the finals. The process took nearly half a year.
At that time, Drāke had very short hair, and through the contest she started giving interviews and promoting a vegetarian and healthy lifestyle. She was not among the youngest contestants – it was a challenge to enter at what is now called 40+. That same year, she completed her studies at Turība and began working as a press secretary at the music center “Vernisāža”. Working with journalists and organizing events kept her in the loop.
Being in the spotlight was a major test for Drāke, but it helped her become the fifth most popular person in Latvia in 2000, as she herself notes.
