Room's Record Saves Help Curacao Secure Historic Draw Against Ecuador
Curacao goalkeeper Eloy Room equaled the record for most saves in a World Cup match, leading his team to a 0-0 draw against Ecuador and their first ever point in the tournament.

Curacao earned their first point in World Cup history after a goalless draw against Ecuador at Kansas City Stadium on Saturday. The result was largely thanks to an extraordinary performance by goalkeeper Eloy Room, who made 12 saves – equaling the record for most saves in a single World Cup match. Room was impenetrable, denying Ecuador's attackers time and again. Coached by Dutch veteran Dick Advocaat, Curacao played a defensive game and successfully held off Ecuador's pressure. Although Ecuador dominated possession and created numerous chances, they could not find a way past Room. This draw keeps Curacao's slim hopes of advancing from the group stage alive, while Ecuador will rue their missed opportunities.
