Elza Tomase Dominates to Reach W15 Quarterfinals

Latvian tennis player Elza Tomase convincingly won her match at a W15 tournament in Romania to advance to the quarterfinals, where she is set to face Italian Beatrice Stagno.

Elza Tomase, a 24-year-old Latvian, was the clear favorite in her match at the W15 tournament in Romania, with bookmakers offering odds of 1.05 on her victory. She faced a 21-year-old Romanian opponent who was recently ranked No. 1309 in the world.

Tomase dominated on break points, converting 6 of 13 compared to her opponent's 2 of 3, and won a total of 57 points against 41. She recorded one ace and five double faults, while her opponent had none and one, respectively. The match lasted 1 hour and 22 minutes.

For reaching the quarterfinals, Tomase earns approximately $367 in prize money and three ranking points. In the next round, she is expected to face 23-year-old Italian Beatrice Stagno (No. 1004), who has a career-high ranking of No. 912.
