Emilija's parents share experience of daughter's severe illness and recovery

Agnese and Arnis Kalekauri kept silent for a long time about the details of their daughter Emilija's illness and recovery. They did not want to burden anyone with their worries. There were days when talking was simply impossible.

However, in the hospital they met other parents who were at the beginning of their child's recovery journey. These parents were confused, worried, and scared – just as the Kalekauris had once been. This shared experience prompted them to change their stance.

"If our story helps even one family going through what we went through – we are ready to talk," says Emilija's parents. They hope that openness about what they endured can provide support and hope to others facing similar challenges.
