2026 Emmy Awards: The Pitt, Widow's Bay and DTF St Louis lead winners
The 2026 Emmy Awards have been handed out, with medical drama "The Pitt" named best drama series while "Widow's Bay" swept several comedy categories and "DTF St Louis" dominated the limited series field.
Drama and comedy series
"The Pitt" was named outstanding drama series, with its star Noah Wyle also picking up the award for lead actor in a drama series. Rhea Seehorn won lead actress in a drama for her role in "Pluribus", while the supporting acting prizes in drama went to Tom Pelphrey for "Task" and Allison Janney for "The Diplomat".
In comedy, "Widow's Bay" was the night's biggest winner, taking home awards for lead actor (Matthew Rhys), supporting actor (Stephen Root), supporting actress (Kate O'Flynn) and directing (Hiro Murai). Jean Smart won lead actress in a comedy series for "Hacks".
Limited series and other categories
"DTF St Louis" was named outstanding limited or anthology series, also winning in directing and writing for that category, plus supporting acting prizes for David Harbour and Linda Cardellini. Matthew Rhys added a second win of the night, taking lead actor in a limited series for "The Beast in Me", while Sally Field won lead actress for "Remarkably Bright Creatures", which was also named best television movie.
"The Traitors" won the reality competition series award, and "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" was named best variety series, also winning for its writing. "South Park" took the animated program prize. The live variety special award went to the Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show featuring Bad Bunny, while "The Muppet Show" won best pre-recorded variety special.
The ceremony followed the Creative Arts Emmys, where a separate set of awards was presented on 5-6 September.
