Enefit opens new solar power plant in Poland

Enefit, a subsidiary of Estonian state-owned energy group Eesti Energia, has launched a new solar power plant near Strzałkowo, Poland, with a capacity of 45 megawatts.
The company expects the plant to generate about 45 gigawatt-hours of renewable electricity annually, helping cut greenhouse gas emissions by 28,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent.
With the new plant now operational, Enefit's total renewable energy capacity in Poland has reached 78 megawatts. The company has operated in the Polish market since 2016 and currently serves 4,500 corporate clients there.
Contract for Difference
Construction of the Strzałkowo solar plant was backed by a 15-year Contract for Difference (CfD), covering 75% of the plant's output. Under such an agreement, if the market price of electricity falls below the level fixed in the contract, the other party compensates the plant for the difference; if the plant manages to sell electricity above that fixed level, the plant itself pays back the difference.
