Energy supply companies, working with the Ministry of Climate and Energy, the Ministry of the Interior, and the Ministry of Defense, will launch a pilot project to introduce a joint anti-drone defense system. The news agency LETA reported the information, citing the Ministry of Climate and Energy.
A Coordinated Approach to Security
The parties involved plan to align technical solutions and security requirements, as well as coordinate the placement of systems across various sites. This unified approach is intended to avoid duplication of separate solutions and ensure consistent standards are applied across the energy sector.
Joint Procurement and Funding
One of the pilot project's goals is to carry out joint procurement processes, allowing available financial resources to be used more efficiently. The cooperation is also intended to help attract additional funding from European Union funds, which could partially cover the costs of implementing the system.
The introduction of an anti-drone defense system at energy facilities reflects the need to protect critical infrastructure from potential threats posed by unmanned aerial vehicles.
