Residents of Ērģeme and Valka share views ahead of Saeima elections
The newspaper “Ziemeļlatvija” visited Ērģeme parish and Valka to find out whether local residents have already decided which list to vote for in the 15th Saeima elections. The findings were compiled into a video report.
This week in Latvia is marked by the approaching 15th Saeima elections, prompting the newspaper “Ziemeļlatvija” to find out how local residents feel about the upcoming vote. Journalist Inga Karpova traveled to Ērģeme parish and also spoke with people she met in the town of Valka.
What the journalists wanted to know
The main question posed to residents was whether they had already decided which electoral list would receive their vote. The conversations also explored what considerations matter most to people when deciding who should be entrusted with running the Latvian state.

The responses were compiled into a video report filmed by Ingūna Johansone and edited by Roberts Vīksne. The piece is accompanied by a selection of photographs — 20 in total — taken during the survey in Ērģeme parish and Valka.
Such street surveys offer a glimpse into voter sentiment and awareness at the local level ahead of election day, showing how many residents have already made up their minds about their choice before heading to the polls.
