EU states extend suspension of retaliatory tariffs in Airbus-Boeing dispute
EU countries voted Thursday to continue suspending retaliatory tariffs on US goods, aiming to prevent a new transatlantic trade war as tensions ease.

European Union member states decided on Thursday to extend the suspension of European retaliatory tariffs against the United States in the long-running Airbus-Boeing dispute, two EU diplomats told POLITICO. The move comes as Brussels seeks to avoid a renewed escalation of the transatlantic trade war while tensions between the EU and the US are calming down.
Just this week, the European Union gave final approval to the trade agreement it reached last year with President Donald Trump. Thursday's vote prolongs the suspension of EU retaliatory tariffs, which affect US imports worth $4 billion, including aircraft, tobacco, and spirits. These tariffs were imposed in 2020 at the height of the transatlantic dispute over subsidies for Airbus and Boeing.
