The European Parliament and the Council of the European Union are currently drafting a regulation to establish what is being called the European Business Wallet. The initiative aims to make life easier for entrepreneurs operating across different EU member states.

What the new tool would do

The business wallet is intended to help companies carry out several administrative tasks more easily. These include setting up businesses, opening bank accounts, and passing the various checks companies encounter when operating across borders.

Why it is needed

Companies operating in multiple EU member states currently face differing administrative requirements and procedures in each country. Creating a single digital tool could reduce this bureaucratic burden and make cross-border business activity more accessible.

Work on the European Business Wallet regulation is actively ongoing within EU legislative institutions, though specific timelines or a rollout date have not yet been announced.
