EU Grants Ukraine €3.47 Billion for Drones and Air Defense
The European Union has provided Ukraine with an additional €3.47 billion for military equipment, including drones and anti-air systems. The funding is part of a €90 billion defense credit package.
The European Union (EU) has allocated another €3.47 billion to Ukraine to bolster its defense capabilities. The funds are intended for the purchase of unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), anti-air defense equipment, and other military gear.
This financing is part of a larger €90 billion defense credit package. According to Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky, Ukraine is set to receive a total of €45 billion in 2026. He also stated that €11.6 billion has been attracted so far – €3.2 billion for budget needs and €8.4 billion for defense purposes.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen emphasized that these funds will help protect Ukraine's airspace. She also mentioned a new drone agreement that combines European production capacity with Ukrainian innovation.
The allocated funds cover the first phase of the drone procurement plan and include financing for additional drones, long-range jet drones, missiles, and Gripen fighters. Additionally, €28.3 billion will be allocated in 2026 to support the development of Ukraine's defense industrial potential.
