The European Commission has allocated a new tranche of financial assistance to Ukraine amounting to nearly €2.9 billion. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky welcomed the decision, stressing that the funding arrives at a particularly suitable moment for the country.

The president thanked EU institutions for the support and noted that this type of assistance is important for the stability of Ukraine's economy under current conditions. Zelensky pointed out that the latest payment forms part of a broader macro-financial support program that Ukraine receives from the European Union.

Continued cooperation

The president said that Ukraine and the European Union are continuing to work on fulfilling the remaining agreements regarding macro-financial assistance. This indicates that the amount already disbursed is not the last installment — both sides are working to ensure that other previously agreed elements of support are also delivered.

Macro-financial assistance from the EU is one of the main instruments helping Ukraine cover budget expenditures and maintain the functioning of its state financial system under wartime conditions. This kind of financial aid allows Ukraine to continue meeting social and administrative obligations while a large share of the country's resources is directed toward defense needs.
