The Financial Intelligence Unit (FID) has announced that Russian entrepreneur Sergejs Šnaiders has been included in the European Union's 21st package of sanctions. Šnaiders owns SIA 'Latprodukti', the entity that manages the 'Mere' discount retail chain. The information was provided to LETA by the FID.

The move is part of the EU's ongoing efforts to restrict sources of Russian economic influence. SIA 'Latprodukti' is registered in Latvia and operates in the retail sector. 'Mere' stores are known for their low prices and direct-supply model.

Inclusion in the sanctions list entails asset freezes and travel bans, which are binding across all EU member states.
