The European Union has announced sanctions against Russian cyber agencies responsible for years-long hacking and sabotage campaigns. The EU stated that the operations were conducted by the Federal Security Service of Russia.

Meanwhile, former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has endorsed U.S. President Donald Trump’s call for European nations to boost their defense spending. Emanuel argued that Europe is responsible for its dependence on the United States.

Spanish officials expressed confusion after Trump claimed Madrid had “honored” his military expenditure demands. Spain has rejected this interpretation.

EU lawmakers have pressed football authorities for action over a controversy involving Trump and FIFA President Gianni Infantino regarding a red card. The dispute arose after striker Folarin Balogun received a suspended one-match ban, sparking calls for an investigation.
