EU to Adopt Sanctions Wednesday in Response to Russian Air Strikes on Ukraine
The European Union will approve a new sanctions package against Russia on July 17, responding to its aerial attacks on Ukrainian civilians. The measures target individuals involved in the production of Shahed and Geran drones.

The EU Council is set to adopt a new mini-package of sanctions against Russia in written form on Friday, July 17, as announced by EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas in response to Russia's continued attacks on Ukraine's civilian population.
According to EU diplomats, the new sanctions package responds to Russia's intensifying ballistic attacks against Ukrainian civilians. The Committee of Permanent Representatives (Coreper) has agreed to start the written approval procedure, meaning the package will be officially adopted on July 17.
The package targets legal entities and individuals involved in the production of Shahed and Geran attack drones on Russian territory.
Recall that the proposals for new restrictions against Russia were put forward by Kaja Kallas after another massive Russian shelling of Kyiv on the night of July 2. At that time, Kallas stated she would propose sanctions against a wider range of companies supporting Russia's military-industrial complex in response to these strikes.
