Ethiopia opens new refugee support centre in Addis Ababa
The UN refugee agency and the Ethiopian government have launched a centre in Addis Ababa offering free legal advice and assistance with documentation to help refugees navigate bureaucracy and improve employment prospects.

A new support centre for refugees has opened in Addis Ababa, established by the UN refugee agency (UNHCR) in partnership with the Ethiopian government. The facility aims to assist refugees in dealing with bureaucratic procedures, obtaining essential documents, and increasing their chances of finding work.
Ethiopia is currently home to over one million refugees, making it the third-largest refugee-hosting country in Africa. The centre provides free legal advice and access to vital services.
The initiative is designed to address common obstacles refugees face when trying to integrate, such as complex paperwork and lack of legal guidance. By offering these services, the centre hopes to promote self-reliance and inclusion of refugees into the local community.
