eTwinning offers teachers free training and resources on inclusive education
Latvia's Agency for International Programs for Youth is running an eTwinning campaign from September 8 to 30, giving teachers free access to training and tools for building inclusive classrooms. The offer includes webinars, partner-finding events and in-person training.
From September 8 to 30, Latvia's Agency for International Programs for Youth is running a campaign under the European eTwinning school cooperation network focused on inclusive education. The goal is to help teachers create a safe learning environment for all students while also connecting them with partners for international projects.
Organizers note that inclusive education benefits not only students with special needs but teachers themselves, since skills in managing diverse classrooms help reduce burnout risk and build professional confidence.
Event schedule
The campaign follows a step-by-step structure. It begins with webinars where teachers deepen their understanding of inclusive education, covering topics such as involving children with special needs in projects, recognizing emotional or behavioral difficulties, and the teacher's role in an inclusive school. Webinars are scheduled for September 17 and 24, with a recording of an earlier session also available.
Alongside these, online marketplaces for finding international project partners are being held separately for preschool and primary teachers and for lower and upper secondary teachers, allowing educators to connect with counterparts abroad.
The campaign concludes in October with two 24-hour in-person training courses: one in Riga for pairs of secondary teachers on cross-curricular connections in projects, and another in Aizkraukle municipality for primary and basic school teachers on building inclusive classrooms, including a visit to Koknese Primary School - Development Center. Registration for both closes on September 30.
eTwinning is part of the EU's Erasmus+ programme, supporting teachers' professional development and international project work. It currently has around one million registered teachers across Europe, more than 7,500 of them from Latvia.
