Esotericists link Nepal floods and Hormuz Strait tensions to Nostradamus prophecies

According to Radar Online, some followers of esoteric traditions believe the recent catastrophic floods in Nepal, which killed and left missing several thousand people, fulfill another prophecy from the 16th-century seer Nostradamus. In his 1555 work "The Prophecies," the French seer wrote that after the land turned dry, great floods would follow — a passage some now link to the disaster in Nepal.

Fears of a wider conflict

Nostradamus also wrote of a "great war" and lives lost "because of evil," along with a reference to a "red enemy" that would make the "great ocean" tremble. Some interpret these lines as a warning that Russia's war against Ukraine could spread across Europe, while others read them as a sign of China and North Korea moving against Taiwan.

Another passage foretelling a "very great famine" has fueled concern among esotericists that current tensions in the Middle East and around the Strait of Hormuz could trigger a global food crisis. A further ominous fragment describes blood spilling around a shrine while "Mars rules among the stars" — read by some as an additional sign of large-scale conflict, since Mars was the Roman god of war.

Economic upheaval

Other verses speak of "great wealth turning to dust" and gold losing its value, which some followers interpret as a prediction of capitalism's collapse, potentially pushing the United States toward a socialist system.

Elinora Bergkvist, a European historian and longtime Nostradamus researcher, notes that his visions spanned vast stretches of time and geography, making it impossible to pinpoint exactly when any apocalypse might occur. Still, she says his words suggest the future faces real danger.
