F-16 downs intruder near Bucharest: Romania changes approach to Russian wandering drones

A Romanian F-16 fighter shot down an intruder near a village northeast of Bucharest. The same barrage included Shahed drones and five missiles targeting Ukraine, including border districts opposite Romania.

Romania has shifted its tactics in response to Russian wandering drones, moving from escorting to firing. According to a report by Euromaidan Press, an F-16 fighter downed an intruder near a village northeast of Bucharest.

The same Russian barrage included Shahed drones and five missiles aimed at Ukraine. Among the targets were border districts facing Romania. Previously, Romania would only escort such drones, but it has now decided to take active engagement.

The airspace violation occurred amid intensified Russian attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure. Romanian authorities have not yet provided further details on the incident.
