On Sunday night, users across the world began experiencing problems accessing Facebook and Instagram, according to AOL.com, citing the Asbury Park Press.

According to the outage-tracking site Downdetector, shortly before 9:30 p.m. Eastern Time, Instagram had received more than 5,600 reports of issues, and the platform also began trending on Google. The majority of complaints — about 60 percent — related to the website rather than the mobile app. Facebook users also reported a significant number of problems, mostly tied to the website as well.

Both platforms belong to Meta. Per the source, the outage appeared relatively recently, so it is possible it could be resolved quickly. At the time of reporting, the exact cause of the disruption was not known, and no official statement from Meta was mentioned.
