Fallon Sherrock beats Luke Littler in one leg to win £501,000
Darts player Fallon Sherrock beat world star Luke Littler in a single leg at the Netflix 'Beat Luke Littler' event in Manchester, winning a £501,000 prize.
English darts player Fallon Sherrock won a single leg against young darts star Luke Littler at the live 'Beat Luke Littler' event in Manchester, taking a £501,000 prize. The event was broadcast on the streaming platform Netflix. The result matters because Littler had been almost entirely untroubled by the other challengers.
The format
Littler faced 20 players of varying levels, each getting one leg to beat him. The first to succeed would win £501,000. Sherrock qualified because she does not hold a PDC Tour card, placing her among the amateur and lower-level contenders.
How it unfolded
Littler won most legs comfortably, although he was not at his best. Against 14-year-old Jayden Walker, who beat world No 2 Luke Humphries at the age of 12, Littler finished the leg in 12 darts, checking out from 158. Ireland's Pearse Mackle came within one dart of the prize, needing the bullseye but missing.
Sherrock, who reached the third round of the 2020 World Championship, moved ahead on the scoreboard, hit a 180 and finished on double 20.
Reaction
Sherrock told Netflix she could not put into words what it meant to her; she won in front of her son. Littler said afterwards that he enjoyed the event and hoped Netflix might repeat it next year.
