FBC Ostrava, featuring Latvian players, earns first point in overtime loss

In round three of the Czech floorball Superliga, FBC Ostrava, whose roster includes several Latvian players, lost 5:6 in overtime on the road to Florbal Chodov. Despite the defeat, the point earned was the club's first of the season and allowed Ostrava to move off the bottom of the league table.
After a heavy defeat in the season opener and a narrow loss in the second match, Ostrava had to wait until the third round for its first point. The home side built a small lead in the first period and held it through the second. However, late in regulation the visitors equalized through goals from Vojtěch Murín and Patrik Vykopal. In overtime, the Prague-based team scored the winning goal, sealing a 6:5 result.
None of the Latvian players registered a scoring point in the match, but Valters Lapiņš and Rūdolfs Vilmanis logged heavy ice time, at 31:26 and 30:44 respectively. Jēkabs Berkolts played 16:22 and picked up a two-minute penalty during that time.
Several other matches were played in the same round. HDT.cz Florbal Vary Bohemians convincingly beat Kanonýři Kladno 11:6, while league leaders 1.SC Tempish Vítkovice defeated FBŠ Hummel Hattrick Brno 6:2 at home. Tatran Střešovice crushed Florbal Ústí 17:2 away, and FBC Liberec overcame an early deficit to score six goals in the third period, winning 8:4 against Česká Lípa. Bulldogs Brno also claimed their first win of the season, defeating Sokoli Pardubice 8:5 on the road.
