Fury dominates Wach in Thailand boxing bout ahead of Joshua showdown
Tyson Fury forced Mariusz Wach to retire at the start of the eighth round in a tune-up fight in Pattaya, Thailand, ahead of a potential bout with Anthony Joshua.
Former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury secured a win in his tune-up bout on Friday, as Polish opponent Mariusz Wach could not continue after the seventh round. The fight took place at the Max Muay Thai Stadium in Pattaya, Thailand, in front of an estimated 1,500 spectators.
The bout was not televised but will be featured in the Netflix reality series "At Home with the Furys." Wach, 46, had lost seven of his last ten fights and was unable to continue at the start of the eighth round.
Fury, who turns 38 in August, has won 36 professional bouts, with his only losses coming in two fights against Ukraine's Oleksandr Usyk in 2024. He announced his retirement after the second loss to Usyk in December 2024 but returned to boxing in January.
Fury is a two-time world champion. He first won the title in 2015 by defeating Wladimir Klitschko and later claimed the WBC belt through a trilogy with Deontay Wilder, which included a draw and two victories.
Fury's comeback sets up the prospect of a long-awaited showdown with fellow Briton Anthony Joshua, a former world heavyweight champion. Joshua is scheduled to face Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia on Saturday.
