Spain won the World Cup on Sunday, defeating Argentina 1-0 in extra time. The winning goal was scored by Ferrán Torres near the end of extra time. After the match, Torres poetically described it as the goal of 47 million people, referring to all Spanish fans.
Torres admitted that having Lionel Messi as an opponent makes you nervous. However, he emphasized that the team always relies on each other and plays their own game, which once again proved their worth. In the final minutes, Argentina had several set pieces but failed to convert.
This is the second time Spain has won the World Cup – the first was in 2010 when they beat the Netherlands 1-0 in the final.
