Ferrari drivers top first practice sessions at Hungarian GP

Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton set the fastest laps in Friday's two practice sessions for the Hungarian Grand Prix.

The Hungarian Grand Prix weekend began with Ferrari dominating the first two practice sessions on Friday. Charles Leclerc was quickest in the first session with a lap of 1:19.075, beating Max Verstappen (Red Bull) by 0.484 seconds. His teammate Lewis Hamilton was third, 0.543 seconds behind.

In the second session, Hamilton took the top spot with a lap of 1:18.729, narrowly ahead of Leclerc by 0.148 seconds. Lando Norris (McLaren) was third, 0.499 seconds off the pace.

Championship leader Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes) skipped the first session but finished 13th in the second.

Saturday will feature a third practice session and qualifying, with the race scheduled for Sunday.

After ten rounds, Antonelli leads the drivers' standings with 204 points. Hamilton has 159, George Russell 154, Leclerc 126, Norris 103, Oscar Piastri 92, and Verstappen 91. In the constructors' championship, Mercedes leads with 358 points, followed by Ferrari (285), McLaren (195), and Red Bull (151).

Originally scheduled for 24 rounds, two races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia were canceled due to conflict in the Middle East. The season will conclude in early December in Abu Dhabi.
