Jay Peters, a senior reporter at the technology outlet The Verge, describes the short as fairly unnerving and warns that it becomes somewhat graphic in places.
What is known about the short
According to the video description, Barker wrote, directed and edited "Mama Bear." The description also thanks Windows for sponsoring the film. Earlier this week, Barker also appeared in an Instagram video featuring a Surface laptop.
What comes next
After Obsession, Barker is due to release Anything but Ghosts, which is scheduled to debut in May 2027.
The Verge notes that horror is currently big business. This year the film Backrooms, directed by YouTuber Kane Parsons, also proved a box office success. Parsons released a new Backrooms episode on YouTube in August.
