Final Fantasy VII Revelation launches on April 8, 2027
Sony's State of Play livestream revealed that Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the third and final part of the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy, will release on April 8, 2027 for consoles and PC.
During its latest State of Play livestream, Sony announced that Final Fantasy VII Revelation will launch on April 8, 2027.
The game is the third and concluding chapter in a trilogy that retells the story of the original 1997 PlayStation classic Final Fantasy VII. The first installment, Final Fantasy VII Remake, arrived in 2020, followed by the second part in 2024. Altogether, the full retelling will have taken more than seven years to complete and spanned two console generations.
A modern take on a classic
Unlike the turn-based combat of the original game, the remake trilogy uses a real-time action combat system closer to modern titles than classic RPGs. The first entry alone covered only the opening Midgar section of the original game, yet was expanded into roughly a 50-hour experience. Rather than being straightforward remakes, the games are described as retellings of the original story built around entirely new games.
Revelation is expected to bring the story to its conclusion, including the final confrontation with the series' central antagonist, Sephiroth, and its aftermath.
Availability and pre-orders
The game will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. Pre-orders are already open for PS5 owners, with early buyers set to receive two additional summon spells. A Premium Edition will also be offered, granting access a day before the official launch along with an in-game accessory, additional consumable items, and access to upcoming story DLC.
Separately, another entry in the franchise, Final Fantasy Resonance, is set to release on October 22. That game returns to a classic turn-based combat style and originated as a mobile title.
