Flock Safety CEO Garrett Langley to discuss future of surveillance at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026
Flock Safety founder and CEO Garrett Langley will take the stage at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026 to talk about AI, surveillance, and public safety, amid ongoing backlash from privacy advocates.

The debate over the line between privacy and public safety has only grown more intense in the AI era. Flock Safety, a company that has attracted both massive investment and fierce public criticism, sits at the center of this debate. That's why at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026 — taking place October 13-15 at San Francisco's Moscone Center — Flock's founder and CEO Garrett Langley will speak on these very issues.
Flock Safety, based in Atlanta, is not Langley's first startup. Previously, he worked on the car subscription service Clutch and the platform Experience, overseeing several teams before its sale to Cox Enterprises for $200 million in 2014. Flock was founded in 2017 with co-founders Matt Feury and Paige Todd, went through Y Combinator, and saw significant success selling its surveillance technology to businesses and law enforcement. The company is known for license plate recognition but also uses general surveillance cameras and has been developing drone first responders after acquiring Aerodome.
Last year, Flock raised $275 million at a $7.5 billion valuation, a sharp increase from the prior year's $4.8 billion. Total funding to date is $950 million. However, business success has come with pushback: privacy advocates like the ACLU and members of the public have destroyed Flock's cameras. Amazon's Ring recently ended a partnership, and the LAPD let its deal lapse this month. Langley will discuss the company's approach to AI and surveillance at Disrupt, which expects over 10,000 attendees. Early bird tickets are now available.
