Florida Jury Rejects Cuban Exile Families' Damages Claim Against Expedia

A jury in Florida has sided with travel booking company Expedia in a lawsuit brought by families of Cuban exiles.

The plaintiffs had sought damages tied to tourism properties located in Cuba, arguing they were entitled to compensation. However, the jury determined that the families had not provided sufficient proof that they actually held ownership of those properties.

Because the plaintiffs could not establish clear ownership, the jury rejected their claim against Expedia for monetary damages.

The case is part of a broader pattern of disputes involving properties that were nationalized in Cuba following the 1959 revolution, which many exiled Cuban families and their descendants still regard as rightfully theirs.
