The ATP tournament in Washington D.C. saw several top players move into the second round. Home favorite Taylor Fritz (ATP 10) defeated Poland's Kamila Majchrzak (72) 6:3, 6:4. Fritz, who had odds of 1.27 to win, dominated in first-serve points (90% to 65%), second-serve points (75% to 53%), total points (70-51), and break points (converted 2 of 10). He hit 14 aces to Majchrzak's 6. The head-to-head now stands at 2-0 for Fritz. This is Fritz's sixth appearance in Washington; his best result is a semifinal in 2023.

Australia's top player Alex de Minaur (ATP 6) outlasted Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas (ATP 51, former world No. 3) 6:4, 3:6, 6:3. De Minaur, a slight favorite (odds 1.71), had the edge in first-serve percentage (63% to 49%) and first-serve points won (79% to 66%), but trailed in second-serve points (44% to 56%). He led in total points 95-85 and break points (3/6 to 2/7). De Minaur served 4 aces and 8 double faults; Tsitsipas had 8 aces and 3 double faults. The overall head-to-head is now 3-14 in favor of Tsitsipas, despite this loss. De Minaur is competing in Washington for the sixth time; he won the title here in 2025.

Other first-round winners included Ben Shelton (ATP 8), Lorenzo Musetti (ATP 15), and Jakub Mensik (ATP 17).
