172 combat clashes recorded along front line in one day, most near Pokrovsk
Ukraine's General Staff reported 172 combat clashes along the front line since the start of the day on 21 August, with 23 of them in the Pokrovsk direction. Russia also used aircraft, drones and artillery.

Ukraine's General Staff reported, in an update covering the situation as of 22:00 on 21 August, that 172 armed clashes with Russian forces had taken place along the front line since the beginning of the day.
According to the report, Russian forces carried out 75 air strikes using 219 guided aerial bombs during this period. They also deployed 6,751 kamikaze drones, while Ukrainian troop positions and populated areas came under fire 1,939 times.
Where the fighting took place
The largest number of clashes, 23, occurred in the Pokrovsk direction, which has long been one of the most active sections of the front. The Kostiantynivka direction saw 20 clashes, the South Sloboda direction 11, and the Sloviansk direction 8.
The Lyman and Kramatorsk directions each recorded four clashes, matching the combined total of four in the North Sloboda and Kursk directions. The Oleksandrivka and Huliaipole directions each saw three clashes, while the Orikhiv direction recorded two.
The General Staff continues to publish such daily summaries on the front-line situation, reflecting the intensity of fighting across various sections of Ukraine's eastern and southern front.
