221 clashes recorded along front line in a day, most in Pokrovsk direction
Ukraine's General Staff reports 221 combat clashes over the past day, with the fiercest fighting in the Pokrovsk and South-Slobozhansk directions. Russia deployed thousands of drones and dozens of air strikes.

Ukraine's General Staff, summarizing the situation at the front as of 22:00 on September 9, reported 221 combat clashes over the previous day. Russian forces were most active in the Pokrovsk and South-Slobozhansk directions.
According to the General Staff, Russian troops carried out 64 air strikes over the day, dropping 247 guided aerial bombs. Attacks also involved 6,777 kamikaze drones, along with 1,901 shelling attacks on populated areas and Ukrainian military positions.
Pokrovsk direction
The situation remains most intense in the Pokrovsk direction, where Ukrainian defenders repelled 21 enemy attacks. The occupiers attempted to advance near Toretske, Novohryhorivka, Stepy, Hannivka, Dobropillia, Shevchenko, Svitle, Matiasheve, Serhiivka, Udachne and Molodetske. According to preliminary estimates, 56 occupiers were killed and eight wounded in this direction during the day; nine vehicles, four units of special equipment, two drone control points and 34 enemy shelters were destroyed. Twelve vehicles, four artillery systems, four drone control points and 177 shelters were damaged. Some 289 drones of various types were destroyed or suppressed.
Other front-line directions
High-intensity assaults were also recorded in the South-Slobozhansk direction, where Russian troops attacked Ukrainian positions near Lyman, Starytsia, Shyroke and Chuhunivka 11 times, with one engagement still ongoing. In the Huliaipole direction, defenders repelled eight attempted advances, while in the Lyman direction three enemy attempts to advance near Novoselivka and Dibrova were stopped. Three more attacks were repelled in the Kostiantynivka direction, and two each in the Kupiansk, North-Slobozhansk and Kursk directions. One attack each was repelled in the Sloviansk, Kramatorsk and Oleksandrivka directions. In the Orikhiv and Prydniprovske directions, Russian forces carried out no offensive actions during the day, and no significant changes were reported elsewhere along the front.
