FT: Argentina Prepares 'Golden Passport' Program for $500,000
Argentina is planning to launch a citizenship-by-investment program with a $500,000 donation or $1 million in government bonds to attract foreign funds for debt servicing, according to Financial Times sources.

Argentina is preparing to introduce a program that would allow foreign nationals to obtain citizenship in exchange for investments, the Financial Times reported, citing sources.
Two participation options are being considered: a non-refundable donation of approximately $500,000, or the purchase of government bonds worth $1 million. The program's terms have not been finalized and may change.
The authorities hope the program will help raise funds to service the national debt. If launched, Argentina would become one of the largest countries to offer so-called 'golden passports' for investments. Argentine citizenship provides visa-free access to nearly 170 countries.
Since the start of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, Argentina has become a destination for Russian emigrants. In 2025, the government tightened immigration rules, which FT reports was partly linked to preparing this new investment program.
