Van Rams into Berlin Pride Crowd, Killing One and Injuring 15

A white van drove into a crowd gathered for Berlin's Christopher Street Day Pride parade on Saturday, resulting in one fatality and at least 15 injuries, several of which are life-threatening. The incident occurred in Tiergarten park, adjacent to the Pride march route. The vehicle struck multiple people before coming to a halt against a tree. Police immediately deployed a large number of officers to the scene and urged everyone to leave the area via social media. The event near the Brandenburg Gate was called off at approximately 10:15 p.m., interrupting a band's performance. Authorities are conducting an intensive search for possible suspects. Berlin police officer Florian Nath stated in a video that the search is ongoing. Police spokesperson Alexander Klute told the Associated Press that at this point, no information is available about motives or the identity of the perpetrator(s). Earlier in the day, hundreds of thousands of participants had peacefully marched through the city, with around 80 floats, dancing and cheering. Julian Miethig, who had attended the celebrations earlier, expressed shock upon learning of the incident, calling it "a dark day for the community." Firefighters, ambulances, and event emergency staff are treating the injured.
